The URBAN ROOTS Videotalk Series Has Begun!

How can we rethink our cities and make them more sustainable, inclusive and resilient?
The URBAN ROOTS project has launched a series of six free online videotalks dedicated to sustainable urban development. Organised by project partners across Europe, the series brings together experts, practitioners, young people and interested citizens to explore practical ideas for creating greener, more inclusive and future-ready cities.
Each one-hour session focuses on a different aspect of urban sustainability, ranging from climate adaptation and inclusive urban planning to social entrepreneurship, urban greening and innovative technologies.
The Series So Far
The series began on 10 September with the session “What Makes a City Sustainable: 8 Principles,” organised by Bioville in Latvia. Participants explored the fundamental principles that can guide cities towards greater sustainability, resilience and quality of life.
The second videotalk, “Climate Adaptation in Urban Areas: Lessons from Turia Park, Valencia,” took place on 15 September and was organised by the Low Carbon Economy Foundation in Spain. The session examined how urban spaces can adapt to climate-related challenges, drawing inspiration from the transformation of Valencia’s Turia riverbed into one of Europe’s most remarkable urban parks.
